Is SD as a guild going to retain a secondary interest in Shadowbane?

Its our root and in our blood so i guess somewill but not under SD-tag

What do you guys think about darkfall being delayed by another month - did you expect it?

Also what do you think of the revelations that demand may outstrip supply as far as servers and hardware goes?

im not going to hold my breath . right now i still think darkfall has a chance to flop. going to try it when it comes but if its not 200% of what i want in it i wont be paying for it

I think given all of the information and seeming "mis-information" (or perhaps more properly, negative reviews from a select few) it is difficult to truly know what DF is going to be.

Will I jump on the Aventurine-declared band wagon and pre-order? Probably not without having the opportunity to play it in beta but I will wait and see.

It's a damn shame so far how Darkfall hasn't been promoted, hasn't been advertised and hasn't been submitted to reviewers/writers to really set up a media push. If they're really trying to have a small scale game they're about to succeed because the details released so far have been sketchy and it looks like the beta selection is going to be about 1% or less of the applicants, unless I'm missing something.

Ah well. I'll keep watching.

i wouldnt want to see how many people are signed up for Darkfall if they did do more advertiseing (they have over 200,000 people signed up)

Ive suffered through AoC, And im pretty damn sure nothing can flop worse then that game.

They are going on the Eve model due to financial reasons. Start small and gain subs through good reviews and word of mouth, rather than boom and bust tactics of spending half their development costs on hyping what will be, lets be perfectly fucking honest, an unfinished niche game which will mercilessly gank Joe Gamer and bask in his tears. This is the only viable strategy for a studio as small as Aventurine without selling out to big publisher that will ruin the game.

Having a swollen population at release causes its own problems, like extra servers to accomodate the, "I will try that" crowd, which inevitably become underpopulated when 50% of them decide its not the type of game they enjoy. Then the people who do like the game are watered down and spread over several ghost town servers.

If you look at it this way, a low key launch is the best possible start Darkfall can have. MMO sucess is about subs not boxes.

In an ideal world, darkfall would be a perfect PvP game, have a massive ad campaign and steal half of WoWs subs, then I will never have to buy another computer game ever again. But alas, thats not the case.
